ADVOCACY VISITS TO MEDIA HOUSES

The management of the Borno State Guidance and Counselling Board carried out advocacy visits to key media organizations in Maiduguri, namely Borno Radio Television and Nigerian Television Authority, as part of its strategic efforts to strengthen media collaboration.

The delegation was led by the Chairman, Alhaji Abba Lawan Ashigashiya, and included the Executive Secretary, Professor Mohammed Abba Jimme, Board Member Honorable Gadau Ali Monguno, alongside key staff members Babagana Tijjani and Musa Aji Kolo.

Nigerian Television Authority Maiduguri, discussions focused on leveraging television broadcasting to complement ongoing awareness and enlightenment campaigns. The Board highlighted the role of visual media in engaging young people and promoting guidance and counselling services across the state.

The Zonal Director of NTA, Mohammad Adam Ndirbita, appreciated the visit and assured the Board of the station’s readiness to support its programs. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and effective media engagement in achieving impactful outreach.

Similarly, at Borno Radio Television, the Board sought collaboration to effectively inform and educate the youth of Borno State, particularly those interested in joining the Nigerian Army, Police, and other paramilitary organizations. The Board emphasized the importance of radio broadcasting due to its wide reach and accessibility across communities.

In his response, the General Manager of BRTV, Ali Mamman Shuwa, expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the delegation of the station’s full support and cooperation. He further advised the Board to liaise with the Director of Programmes and the Current Affairs Department to ensure smooth planning and airing of its programs. A souvenir was presented to both the Zonal Director NTA and the General Manager BRTV as a mark of appreciation.

The visits concluded on a positive note, with both media organizations expressing their willingness to collaborate with the Board in promoting youth development and public awareness across Borno State.
